Where do you start? Where can you get information on the divorce process and even the basics of all the lingo of divorce? Crash Course Divorce helps individuals get clarity on the legal divorce process, divorce mediation, and common pitfalls in separation and divorce.
A little information can go a long way in divorce, particularly for families who want to minimize the impact of divorce on their children.
Registration for "Crash Course Divorce" is below for regularly scheduled classes, though you can set a privately scheduled class there, too. To learn more (and spend less), this class is where to begin. Forms, booklets and other handouts are distributed.
When spouses attend together, it often is a helpful step towards making more informed decisions that are less costly (emotionally and financially). If not together, we strongly encourage bringing a supportive friend or family member with you, though it is not required. The course outlines options, explains often misunderstood aspects of the divorce process, and provides handouts with critical information.
More details are below. Registration can be done online or by calling our offices at 470-252-3305.
A 30-minute session on children's issues follows every Crash Course Divorce session for an additional fee. Georgia's Parenting Plans (what is custody and vistation) and Child Support (and the Georgia Child Support Worksheet) are reviewed using court-forms.
We encourage parents to get a more comprehensive understanding of the legal process, expectations of the courts, and more for the sake of their child(ren).
Also, metro-Atlanta parents in divorce often are required to take a parenting class by the court. Visit your county's courthouse website for details. Take the course sooner rather than later (usually $35-65 and enter NA for any case number) to avoid common, avoidable, harmful mistakes.
